We hand scoop out the large debris and then use a water hose to thoroughly flush out all the remaining debris and the fine sediment. If the downspouts are too clogged to completely flush out, we will disassemble them, remove the clog and then securely reattach the downspout.
Some companies use a leaf blower to “re-locate” the debris and dirt which makes a big mess down below. Flushing the gutter with water also allows us to detect any leaks in the system. We also remove any debris on the roof and valley areas, bag all the debris and do a thorough clean up. We are very cautious working around sensitive areas like landscaping, furniture, decks, etc.
When to Clean Your Gutters
We suggest cleaning your gutters in the early Spring, before the Spring/Summer rains come in, and then again in the Fall after the leaves have fallen. It’s also important to note that a clean gutter system during the Winter is less prone to ice damming issues that we are prone to in Colorado.
